How much do new windows or doors cost?

Every home is different, so we price each job individually. Our surveyor measures up at your home and you receive a free estimate with a full price breakdown, including supply and installation, with no obligation. Request a free quote.

Is the home survey really free?

What guarantee do I get?

Every installation comes with a 10 year insurance backed guarantee. Insurance backed means the guarantee is protected by an insurer, so your cover does not depend on any single company. More on our guarantee page.

Do your installations meet Building Regulations?

Yes. All our installations are registered with Assure Certification, which confirms that the work meets current Building Regulations.

Who carries out the installation?

Our own installation team. The fitters are directly employed by Oakwood Windows, not subcontracted, and every installation is overseen by a surveyor to make sure it is finished to a high standard with as little disruption as possible. See supply and installation.

How long does an installation take?

It depends on the size of the job. Replacing a few windows or a front door is usually done in a day or two, while a whole house, a porch or a conservatory takes longer. Your surveyor gives you a timescale with the quote.

Should I choose uPVC or aluminium windows?

uPVC is easy to maintain, usually has the higher insulation rating (A to A+) and tends to cost less. Aluminium is stronger, so it suits larger panes and slimmer, more modern frames, and comes in a wider range of colours. Compare them on uPVC or aluminium.

Can you replace windows on a period home or in a conservation area?

Yes. We install uPVC vertical sliding sash windows and timber alternative flush sash windows designed to keep the look of older houses, with options such as Georgian bars and leaded glass. Conservation areas often have rules on replacement windows, and we advise on this at the survey.

Do I need planning permission for a porch?

Usually not. A porch normally counts as permitted development if its ground floor area is no more than three square metres, no part of it is higher than three metres, and it is at least two metres from any boundary with a road. Different rules can apply in conservation areas, and we check this at the survey. See our porches.

Can I keep my original stained glass?

Yes. With stained glass encapsulation, the stained glass from your existing windows is restored by hand and sealed inside a new double glazed unit, so you keep the character with modern warmth and security.

How secure are your windows and doors?

Shoot bolt locking is built into all our windows as standard, with hinge restrictors, excluders and laminated or toughened glass available. Our doors come with shoot bolt, hook, roller and dead latch locking and toughened glass as standard. More on security.

How energy efficient are your windows?

Our windows are A to A+ rated, with argon filled 28mm sealed units and black Swiss spacers to cut heat loss and draughts. Better insulated windows also reduce outside noise. More on energy saving.

Which areas do you cover?

We are based in Southgate and install across North London, including Southgate, Enfield, Barnet, Palmers Green and Winchmore Hill, as well as Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
