A timber alternative is a uPVC window designed to look like one made by a traditional joiner. The sash sits flush with the frame, as it would on an original timber casement, the corners use mechanical joints that copy a mortise and tenon, and the frame is finished in a woodgrain foil or a heritage colour. From the pavement it reads as painted timber. Up close it never needs painting.
